(note time change for our Feast before the Feast !)

Kya Eckstrand-White from GeerCrest Farm and Lucie Gouin from La Terra Vita (and their families and helpers) are making a difference here in the Williamette Valley.   Kya and Lucie will join us on Tuesday to talk about their farms and answer questions ...... just see below....you won't want to miss this meeting !   Plus ..... did someone say Potluck ?? (see below)

GeerCrest Farm is a non-profit organization, and runs a farm school program, including Field Trips and even multi-day overnight school Farm-Stays. We also host camps and workshops, run a small goat dairy, and keep chickens, horses, sheep, and pigs. Our goal is to run a small, self-sufficient, family style farm that allows us “live and teach agrarian culture.” The farm business includes the sale of raw goat dairy products and eggs, as well as meat shares for chicken, turkey, pork and goat, and produce as available.www.geercrest.org

La Terra Vita is an integrated, biodiverse, local family farm using organic and biodynamic methods to produce heirloom vegetables of exceptional flavor and beauty, as well as eggs, meat and dairy products. Farm management includes woodland and wetland restoration, pasture and hay making. We sell our vegetables and eggs direct via farmers' markets and CSA.
Note: We sell meat only occasionally. The dairy is for our own consumption, not for sale -- but it is definitely a large part of what we do and a significant contributor to the spirit of the farm!

Bring a healthy dish to share (such as from Nourishing Traditions)
Please label your dish with ingredients and bring your own place setting
Filtered Water and Apple Cider will be provided

WELCOME and WHY WESTON A. PRICE FOUNDATION - Linda Ellis, NTP, Salem Chapter Leader

DID YOU KNOW? Nate Rafn, Owner, Living Culture

Living Culture is a television series that showcases cuisine and agriculture in the Willamette Valley and Pacific Northwest. Their mission is to generate interest in local foods through inspiring and positive media. Plus, Nate and Rochelle host a monthly supper club featuring local farmers and their foods.

WHAT'S COOKIN'? Sally Herman, Gardener/Farmer

Want to get started making your own traditional bread as recommended in Nourishing Traditions? Sally will help motivate us, share her skills and her rye starter (which has been in the family for over 15 years). p.s. Yes, we get to sample her bread!

ASK THE DOCTOR Luke Gonzales, ND - Salem Naturopathic Physician

So what's up with gluten? And what about grains? What if they are 'properly prepared'? It seems like so many people lately are not eating foods containing gluten. Dr. Luke will lead a discussion and shed some light on this complex and common 'problem'.

MEET YOUR LOCAL FARMER Jim and Wendy Parker, Heritage Farms Northwest, Dallas, Oregon

Heritage Farms Northwest is a small family farm raising, promoting and preserving rare breed farm animals. They take pride in raising healthy, happy animals and being good stewards of the land. Be ready to enjoy a sample of their pastured Red Wattle or American Guinea Hog. Did someone say ‘pulled pork’?
